Solar Ship’s community investments focus on Africa’s greatest natural resource - brainpower. Investments are made in three channels of activities:

Sustainable Livelihoods: How can we help the next generation of African entrepreneurs shift from petrol economies to the sustainable electric economy in Iconic Natural Areas?

How can electric airship technology be used to identify threats and allow local partners to manage wildlife, forests, ecosystems and farms?
COMMUNITY PROJECTS
INTERNSHIPS
4-16 week projects inviting university students from around the world to work with locals in Iconic Natural Areas to design systems to save lives, protect nature and break free from the petrol economy.

​IDEA TOURNAMENTS
1-2 day events organizing teams of students to compete in hackathon-style tournaments to develop ideas to to save lives, work with nature and break free from the petrol economy. Panels of judges rate ideas and sponsors provide investments into the top ideas.

AIRSHIP RACES
Annual events where teams of students design and build their own airship and then are put to the test in four categories: saving lives; protecting nature; electric airship performance; and wild card. The last category “wild card” is an event designed by communities living in and around Iconic Natural Areas.
